ASCAP Board member, Cameron Strang, is CEO & Chairman of Warner/Chappell Music (WCM). Since Strang took the reins in January 2011, the iconic global publisher has undergone a creative resurgence; winning 2012 ASCAP Pop Publisher of the Year and celebrating an impressive showing at 2013 Grammys. WCM recently signed agreements with Beyoncé and Jay-Z, supported artists including Nate Ruess (Fun.), Kendrick Lamar and Ben Howard and enjoyed success with Les Misérables and Book of Mormon. Prior to WCM, Strang founded New West Records and Southside Music, and was instrumental in furthering the careers of Bruno Mars, Steve Earle and Kris Kristofferson, among others. In this enlightening master session, Strang and ASCAP EVP of Membership Randy Grimmett will discuss Strang’s unique path, and explore what goes into being a great publisher - from finding new talent to balancing art and commerce.
