Jon Burlingame is one of the nation's leading writers on the subject of music for films and television. His work appears regularly in Variety and has also appeared in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and such magazines as Premiere, Emmy and The Hollywood Reporter. He is the author of four books including, most recently, The Music of James Bond and Sound and Vision: 60 Years of Motion Picture Soundtracks. He also teaches film-music history at the University of Southern California and has lectured on movie music in such venues as Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Burlingame's commentaries on classic film music have appeared on dozens of DVDs and Blu-Ray titles including, most recently, the Criterion edition of On the Waterfront; and such others as The Magnificent Seven, The Guns of Navarone, The French Connection, The Graduate, The Pink Panther, In the Heat of the Night, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. He wrote the five-part Phil Ramone-produced TV series on film music, The Score, and appears prominently in several other documentaries including James Bond's Greatest Hits, Inside TV Land: 40 Greatest Theme Songs, and the popular A&E series Backstory and Biography. He has written, produced and hosted a series of radio specials for Los Angeles' KUSC-FM, and also produced several CDs of classic television music including The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and Dr. Kildare.
