Manager, Music Partnerships – YouTube

Scott Sellwood has worn many hats during his career in the music industry. He is not only a proven music business executive, attorney, and strategist, but also an accomplished recording and touring artist who’s spent countless days creating music and performing throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe with a variety of artists and bands (including the critically-acclaimed Saturday Looks Good to Me). In his role within YouTube’s Business Development team, Scott combines business acumen with a musician’s sensibilities for collaboration and innovation while guiding the Publisher Partner Relations team handling outreach, licensing, and monetization efforts. He’s also on point for negotiating many of the licensing agreements with songwriters, music publishers, and societies, while also providing insight and support for the company’s broader rights management initiatives. Prior to Google’s acquisition of RightsFlow, as SVP and General Counsel, Scott oversaw RightsFlow’s business and legal affairs. He’s worked with clients at every level, including online music services such as Rhapsody, distributors CD Baby, INgrooves and The Orchard, and record labels such as X5 Music Group for their streaming, karaoke, background music, digital jukebox, synchronization, UGC and new media needs. Scott was also previously a litigator and counselor at Farella, Braun + Martel, LLP and Landels, Ripley & Diamond, LLP in San Francisco, CA. He’s been a past presenter at AIMP, A2IM, CMJ, SXSW, and Digital Music Forum events, and also leads the team that’s authored and a music business licensing course offered by the Berklee College of Music.
