Like many successful music professionals, William Young Pyon has worked and engaged in multiple aspects of the music business. However, having been involved in South Korea’s music scene since what is arguably the start of modern K-pop, William possesses a particular expertise with a career that spans both America and Asia, as well as the crux at which the two intersect. With his extensive experience in the music industry at large, William possesses a wide breadth of knowledge, ranging from publishing to management to production in both the domestic and international arenas. William began his music career originally as a songwriter and producer, working his way up to participate and assist on Records for Artists like Jordan Knight, 2Pac, 3LW and JLO. William started as a songwriter in the Kpop Scene when he came to collaborate with Korean artist, Seo Taiji, on the then-newcomer’s debut album; the music was explosive, and the albums went to sell over 5 million copies, heralding a new wave of sound in Korea and earning Seo Taiji the enduring nickname “Godfather of K-pop.” Drawing from his international business experience, William entered the music publishing business in 2000, connecting U.S. songwriters with music companies in South Korea. His success in creating and finding American-influenced material that spoke to Asian listeners led to the establishment of a co-publishing company with Young-Hu Kim known as Xperimental Music in 2002, and later to be officially known as Xperimental Entertainment.
